FAQ: How far apart should I plant my hedge plants and ground cover plants?

When planting a plant to create a hedge line:
Rule of thumb for planting a 3-gallon size hedge plant is to plant each plant 3’ apart on center. That means, measure 3’ from the center of the plant you’re planting and that distance is where you’ll plant the next hedge plant again at that one’s center.

When planting groundcover plants to create coverage:
Rule of thumb for planting a 1-gallon size groundcover plant (Jasmine Minima) is to plant them 18” apart from center. That means, measure 18” from the center of the plant you’re planting and that distance is where you’ll plant the next groundcover plant again at that one’s center.

Rule of thumb for planting a 3-gallon size groundcover plant (Juniper) is to plant them 3’ apart from center. That means, measure 3’ from the center of the plant you’re planting and that distance is where you’ll plant the next groundcover plant again at that one’s center.
